High-Protein Breakfast Ideas
Breakfast is often the easiest meal to under-eat protein at, mostly because the fast, convenient default options (cereal, toast, pastries) are carb-heavy and low in protein. Here are ten options that don't require much time.
Under 5 minutes
- Greek yogurt + berries + a spoon of nut butter — ~25g protein, no cooking
- Cottage cheese + fruit — ~25g protein, straight from the fridge
- Protein shake + banana — ~30g protein, blend and go
- Two hard-boiled eggs (prepped ahead) + toast — ~14g protein
10–15 minutes
- Three-egg scramble with spinach and cheese — ~22g protein
- Egg muffins made ahead (2–3 muffins) — ~18g protein, reheats in a minute
- Overnight oats with protein powder — ~25g protein, prep the night before
- Turkey or chicken sausage with eggs — ~28g protein
Weekend / more time
- Protein pancakes (oats + eggs + protein powder blended) — ~30g protein
- Breakfast burrito with eggs, beans, and cheese — ~25g protein
The practical rule
Aim for at least 25–30 grams of protein at breakfast if your schedule allows. This alone tends to reduce mid-morning hunger and snacking more than most other single changes.
